Preparing for the row
Gloves to delay the onset of the inevitable blisters - here.
Access to plenty of water & electrolytes.
Rapidly absorbed food (i.e. bananas).
Protein (here).
Deep heat to delay the effects of disabling cramps.
Towel to deal with sweat.
A stoic can-do attitude and turning off your mobile.
Even with all of that, there will be pains, aches and that inner dialogue begging you to stop, but with focus, determination and stubbornness you will see it through.
